Corporate Citizenship Resources 

American Association of Fund-Raising Counsel (AAFRC)

Helps organizations investigate fund-raising consultants or consulting firms. Also provides fund-raising counsel and direction to nonprofit organizations. Includes Giving USA, its annual report on giving.

American Leadership Forum

A nonprofit group that promotes philanthropy and public service. The Web site includes information on how to start and improve corporate giving programs, employee volunteer projects and other efforts.

America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth

A nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing national and local commitments from the public and private sectors to provide every at-risk child in America with access to fundamental resources they need to lead happy, healthy and productive lives.

AmeriCorps

The national service program that allows people of all ages and backgrounds to earn help paying for education in exchange for a year of service.

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)

A professional association for individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of nonprofit, charitable organizations.

Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance

Provides reports and information on charities.

Boston College Center for Corporate Community Relations

An international corporate membership organization partnering with businesses worldwide to strengthen their community relationships and investments to achieve healthy, sustainable communities in which to live, work and do business. The Center's members can be found at their links.

Business Committee for the Arts

The only national organization in the United States that works with business to develop and advance alliances with the arts that meet business objectives.

Business for Social Responsibility

A membership organization for companies of all sizes and sectors created to help its members achieve long-term commercial success by implementing policies and practices that honor high ethical standards and meet their responsibilities to all whom are impacted by their decisions.

Business in the Community

Business in the Community is a unique movement of companies across the United Kingdom committed to improving continually their positive impact on society, with a core membership of 700 companies.

Business Roundtable

An association of chief executive officers committed to examining public issues that affect the economy and developing positions, which seek to reflect sound economic and social principles.

Child.net

Founded by the Streetcats Foundation and its National Children's Coalition, a national networking organization among children and youth groups that operates as a central resource center for information and referrals related to children, youth, parenting and K-12 education.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy

The newspaper of the nonprofit world, published every other week.

Committee for Economic Development

An independent, nonpartisan think tank of business leaders and educators committed to improving the growth and productivity of the U.S. economy, a freer global trading system and greater opportunity for all Americans.

The Conference Board

A nonprofit business membership and research organization, connecting senior executives from more than 2,900 enterprises in 60 nations. Aims to improve the business enterprise system and to enhance the contribution of businesses to society. The Conference Board has a global corporate citizenship link, which includes the Contributions Council and the Contributions Council II.

Council on Foundations

A nonprofit membership association of grantmaking foundations and corporations that offers members technical assistance, educational programs, more than 141 publications and national representation on issues of importance to foundations. Includes Foundation News & Commentary magazine.

Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers

Web site includes comprehensive list of links to Regional Associations of Grantmakers (RAGs) that provide useful information on grantmaking statistics and trends in their regions of the country.

The Foundation Center

A nonprofit information clearinghouse that fosters public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, organizing, analyzing and disseminating information on foundations, corporate giving and related subjects. Includes The Foundation Directory, the National Directory of Corporate Giving and the Philanthropy News Digest. The Center's list of corporate grantmakers can be found at their Web site links.

Gifts In Kind International

Helps companies donate products efficiently and effectively to 50,000 charities and schools each year.

GuideStar

An initiative of Philanthropic Research, Inc., whose mission is to provide objective information about charities to donors and others. Includes Guide for the Responsible Donor.

Idealist

A project of Action Without Borders, this site links to 35,000nonprofit and community organizations in 165 countries. Also links to volunteer opportunities and Nonprofit Career Center on the web.

Independent Sector

A national leadership forum working to encourage giving, volunteering, nonprofit initiatives and citizen action that help serve people and communities. This coalition includes foundations, nonprofits and corporations.

Indiana University Center on Philanthropy

Seeks to increase the understanding of philanthropy and improve its practice through research, teaching and public service.

Internet Nonprofit Center

An information resource on nonprofits, including a library, a nonprofit locator, a gallery where nonprofits post materials and links to other sites of interest to donors and volunteers.

The Philanthropy Roundtable

A national association of individual donors, corporate giving representatives, foundation staff and trustees and trust and estate officers. Includes Philanthropy magazine.

Public Affairs Council

Public Affairs Council provides products and services that help member organizations become more effective in their public affairs activities including conferences, workshops, publications, information clearinghouse, surveys, e-mail discussion groups (called listservs), and external outreach programs.

Points of Light Foundation

The Foundation's mission is to engage more people more effectively in volunteer community service to help solve serious social problems.

American Council on Education (ACE)

ACE, the nation's umbrella higher education association, is dedicated to the belief that equal educational opportunity and a strong higher education system are essential cornerstones of a democratic society.

American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U)

A national association committed to making the aims of liberal learning a vigorous and constant influence on institutional purpose and educational practice in higher education.

Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)

An international association of education advancement officers enhancing their institutions by bringing in support - money, alumni loyalty, public esteem or new students. CASE helps by offering information resources and training to members. The CASE National Clearinghouse for Matching Gift Information can be reached at this link.

Council for Aid to Education

A national nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of corporate and other private sector support in improving education at all levels and helping educational institutions more effectively acquire private support for their programs.

Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE)

A nonprofit network of state and regional funds strategically linking the corporate and philanthropic interests of business and industry with the strengths and opportunities of 670 private colleges and universities in the United States.

 

Volunteer Resources 

CityCares

CityCares is an innovative alliance of volunteer organizations that plan and manage meaningful volunteer opportunities in partnership with 3,600 nonprofit organizations and schools across the country. Each year, CityCares affiliates plan and manage more than 23,000 service projects involving more than 250,000 volunteers and addressing a broad spectrum of social needs.

A nonprofit human-service organization with community-based service network and the largest nonprofit provider of affordable housing for low-income families and the elderly. Also provide skilled, long-term nursing care and other health services.

America's Charities

Provides member charities with the necessary resources to meet needs in impacting human service, health and education, civil and human rights and the environment. Contains links to members.

Charities @ Work

A resource for implementing or revitalizing an employee charitable workplace campaign, Charities @ Work serves as the cooperative voice of more than 500 international, national and local charities.

Community Health Charities

A partnership between voluntary health agencies and American businesses to promote better health. Representing companies and health agencies in workplace payroll deduction contributions programs. Community Health Charities' members can be found at their Web site links.

EarthShare

Represents a wide variety of environmental issues through its member charities. Its members, with their Web site links, can be found by clicking here.

Global Impact

A nonprofit organization representing 53 humanitarian relief and developmental charities in workplace giving campaigns. Includes a link to members.

National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP)

Committed to making philanthropy more responsive to socially, economically and politically disenfranchised people and to the dynamic needs of increasingly diverse communities nationwide. Includes the newsletter Responsive Philanthropy.

United Way of America
